Summer 2010

bucketfullofblues
2009 was an amazing year for me. One of the highlights was winning 3 British Columbia Music Awards for our latest CD
Bucket Full of Blues, including Blues Recording of the year, Soul/R&B recording, and Group of the year. One of the highlights for me was headlining the 900 seat Kelowna Community Theater, for New Years Eve. The Toronto Star rated our event the #2 place to be on NYE for all of Canada, and it was a blast.
The JLS World Blue Band Tour of Europe opened up new festivals in Italy, headlining shows with Larry Carlton, Tuck & Patti, and many others, as well as great gigs in Austria and Germany. Our New CD got great reviews throughout Europe as well as airplay on National German and Austrian Radio Networks. In March 2010, I'll be performing for the first Time in Poland and Prague, Czech Republic.

In December, I did a guest appearance at the Okanagan Film Festival Christmas Fundraiser. When I started out back in Louisiana learning piano, synths and various keyboards, one of the great keyboard artists I admired and emulated was Keith Emerson of
Emerson Lake and Palmer.
In rehearsals for the show, Keith asked me to sing lead on the great ELP hits, "Lucky Man" and "From the Beginning" which was a great thrill. Keith and I had numerous keyboards to play during the show. I had forgotten that during the 70s, I had learned many of his solos note for note, and they all came back to me as I jammed with him during rehearsals and the show.
It was because of Keith, I bought my first Moog Synthesizer.

The fundraiser also had an auction of works from some of the great local artists, and one of my works was selected for Auction, titled "Mississippi Boxcar Blues" which sold for a substantial amount. I've been inspired by so many great painters, over the years, and 2010 will hopefully have many new works, including landscapes of my many world travles. This print above will be offered for sale, due to the many requests I've had for it from posting it on Facebook

In May 2009, I was invited to Washington DC, by ASCAP and the Library of Congress, to perform with some of our greatest composers of the last 50 years, including Allan & Marilyn Bergman, Felix Cavalieri, Ashford & Simpson, Paul Williams, Johnny Mandel, Jimmy Webb and many other great singers and writers. The event was hosted by US House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, and many of our Senators and Representatives. I'll be going back in May 2010 to perform with Randy Newman, Bill Withers, and other legendary writers.

We had the good fortune to be at the Kelowna performance this evening.
It was outstanding. On the way home we were trying to remember the
names of the members of the band and, despite the frequent earnest
efforts to repeat their names, we couldn't recall one. I think we were
so blown away by the music, it was foremost in our minds.
Congratulations to Mr. Sanders on an outstanding and very well received
'homecoming.'

"Wow!
What a show you put on, really great.
Like a true supa-star!
A standing ovation, too.
We tried to say hello after the show
but it seemed like you were
getting swamped with fans.
Go figure, you guys were all fabulous."
